SIELLA

The opulent ballroom seems to come alive with the vibrant energy of excitement and anticipation as I glide across the polished floor, my hand in Cromvos's. His shimmering emerald vestments cling to his lithe, muscular frame, while my starlight-blue gown flows behind me like a celestial river. The music weaves through the air, a symphony of harmonious notes that wrap around us like a lover's embrace.

"Siella," Cromvos murmurs, his deep voice sending shivers down my spine, "you look absolutely stunning tonight."

"Thank you," I reply, a smile tugging at my lips. "You don't look too bad yourself, Captain."

He grins, revealing the tips of his sharp, pearly teeth as we continue to dance amid the swirling colors and captivating scents of rare flowers lining the room. The atmosphere is nothing short of magical, and for a moment, I allow myself to forget the vast differences between us, the imposing social barriers that separate a human from an alien billionaire captain.

"Siella," Cromvos begins again, his eyes searching mine with intensity that makes my heart race. Abruptly, he drops to one knee before me, his grip on my hand tightening ever so slightly. "I can no longer deny how deeply I care for you. You have captivated my heart and soul in ways I never thought possible."

My breath catches in my throat as I stare down at him, my mind racing with a million thoughts, yet unable to form a coherent response.

"Siella Umbra," he continues, his voice unwavering, "will you do me the extraordinary honor of making our bond official? Will you be my mate for life?"

Gasps and whispers erupt around us as the other dancers pause to watch the unexpected scene unfolding before them. My heart hammers in my chest as I struggle to comprehend the gravity of his question, the enormity of the decision before me.

"Captain," I begin, searching for the right words to say. "I-"

But before I can utter another syllable, an earsplitting explosion rocks the ship, sending vibrations through the floor beneath us. The once-elegant chandeliers hanging above sway dangerously, threatening to fall. Panicked screams erupt from the crowd as people stumble and try to regain their footing.

"Everyone, remain calm!" Cromvos shouts over the chaos, his eyes scanning the room with determination. Despite the unexpected turn of events, his composure remains steady – a testament to his unwavering courage.

"Siella!" Doc Siskra calls out, appearing beside me in an instant, looking frazzled. "We're under attack! Space pirates! You need to find cover!"

"Space pirates?" I repeat in disbelief, struggling to process what he just said. My mind races with worry for Alaric, wondering where he is amidst all this turmoil.

"Quickly, Siella!" Cromvos urges me, his eyes locked onto mine. "Find a safe place to hide. I will handle this."

"Be careful," I manage to say, my voice barely audible over the pandemonium surrounding us. He nods in acknowledgment, and then, without another word, dashes into the fray.

Heart pounding, I force myself to focus, pushing the shock of Cromvos's proposal to the back of my mind for now.
